The Catalyst Seminar is designed to enhance the professional development of students in the chemical and biological sciences by introducing them to opportunities in undergraduate research. The program facilitates interaction among new students and faculty investigators through a series of weekly seminars, workshops and informal receptions. Participants will be introduced to the research process, meet potential faculty research mentors, and receive guidance in the preparation of a Maryland-HHMI Undergraduate Research Fellowship proposal.
The Catalyst Seminar is intended for students who:
- Are majoring in (or have an interest in) chemistry, biochemistry, or biology
- Have completed one semester of General Chemistry or Introductory Biology (e.g., CHEM 131, BSCI 106, BSCI 105 or their equivalents)
- Maintain a 3.0 overall grade point average
Enrollment in the Catalyst Seminar is by permission only. Interested students should contact us at HHMI@umd.edu to request an electronic stamp.
